Morning (6 -10:30am) specimens are desirable.

EDTA tube must be pre-chilled.
Specimen must be spun in a refrigerated centrifuge.

If a refrigerated centrifuge is not available, pre-chill the centrifuge carriers, spin for ≤ 5 minutes, promptly transfer the plasma to a Mayo Screw Cap Transfer Vial and freeze. The patient may also be referred to the ANW, Mercy or United hospital Patient Service Center for specimen collection.
