Collection/ Processing Details:
Draw blood in a Greiner Z trace element no-additive navy blue tube.
Allow to clot 30 minutes and spin. Remove the stopper and carefully pour serum into a Mayo metal-free, screw-capped polypropylene transfer vial. Do not use a pipet or wooden sticks to assist in the transfer of the specimen.
High concentrations of gadolinium and iodine are known to interfere with most metal tests. If either gadolinium or iodine containing contrast media has been administered, a specimen should not be collected for 96 hours.
